There is a certain power that comes from working big. In yoga it's the sun salutation that opens the body's energy; moving from standing tall, arms overhead to bringing the hands around the body in a large sweeping motion, bending low, touching the earth - and back again. In a painting, this sweeping in and out of energy almost naturally occurs when the image is large. The colors and the scale combine to bring the viewer straight into the action. The physical act of painting large is different too; bigger brushes, more paint, bigger arm movements, stepping on and off a ladder - all in all - a process that involves the body.
